My Favourite Falmouth Cafes for a Sunny Day

The ice cream and hot chocolate toppings are the main reason for this cafe's inclusion! The coffee isn't my favourite, but the views and sweeter treats are well worth a visit.

I love it most of all early in the mornings or out of the main busy season. The view across to Stack Point is stunning and the colour of the water here on a clear day can be unbelievable!

The cafe has a big decking area with glass wind shelter but just summer umbrellas for overhead covering, which is amazing when it's warm enough because you're basically sitting out on the beach. They do tasty snack lunches too, but my main reason for going is the sweet stuff!

Of course it had to be included with a name like that! Although the outdoor seating at Sunshine is limited, it's a proper sun trap and decorated so nicely with white walls which make you feel like you're relaxing on holiday in Greece, rather than Penryn. Amazing food, lovely people. My full blog post about Sunshine is here.

Great coffee, cake, people and dogs! Tidal is a horsebox coffee van just at the edge of Gylly Beach, also overlooking the Queen Mary Gardens. The ideal takeaway spot for the beach, or the lawns of the gardens if you're after shade, wind shelter, or are looking for a dog-friendly spot in mid-summer.

The outdoor decking at Slice is such a nice place to sit as you're raised up above the valley of trees, and it can be a real sun-trap in the mornings. Their menu is amazing for brunch and lunches, more detail in my full blog post about Slice. Near Constantine, this one could also be combined with walk at the Helford River, or countryside ramblings across the fields.

Beautiful in all weathers, but especially when the sun shines! The gardens at Potager are lovely to spend time in, and you can sit outdoors at the chunky tables or carry a deckchair to a spot on the grass.

The indoor seating is inside the gorgeous greenhouse, so can get warm on hot summer days, but is absolutely perfect in the spring when it's 'not quite warm enough to sit outside but you really want it to be'.

Full blog post here, including the veggie gardens, badminton and yoga classes.

Another mostly take-away in a great location - Castle Beach is beautiful and the cafe opens in the Spring, serving ice cream, hot drinks and cakes, and snacky lunches. There are a few tables under a sheltered area, but these are often busy, and to be honest I prefer taking my treats down onto the beach, or sitting on the wall. Owner Emily often posts on the Facebook page and has a good eye on what's happening in the local community.

I want to learn more about the background of this project, but what I do know is that they have recently moved their kitchen to Princess Pavillion which has a really lovely outdoor seating area in the walled garden.

I like their coffee and had an excellent piece of coffee & walnut cake - all with a real homemade vibe which I love. It's un-fussy and the location outside is really pretty as the garden around the bandstand is always well maintained. Also really close to the beaches and Pendennis Point for a coastal walk afterwards!

I'm going to be continually adding to this list, so if you've got a great recommendation, let me know!
