My Month of May: Magazine Publication, Retreat Visit, New Clients and Awards Evening!

May is one of my favourite - and usually most productive - months of the year as the Spring energy spurs me on. Here are a few of my stand-out moments:

BBC Wildlife Magazine:

I started the month celebrating the publication of my nature writing feature in May’s BBC Wildlife Magazine. Writing more long-form content for magazines has been on my 'to-do' list for a while so this felt like a wonderful milestone. I wrote it and sent it in such a long time ago, but the issue is out this week!

Cabilla Cornwall Trip:

One of my other highlights in May was a visit to the beautiful Cabilla Cornwall retreat venue for the University of Exeter 'Evolve Futures' overnight business networking and innovation event. We walked across Bodmin Moor, through the ancient rainforest hidden in a valley, took a dip in the babbling stream, and warmed right through in the sauna. The food by Cabilla chef Jade was incredible and the koyts are a luxury to stay in!

As part of the event, we each pitched a potential new business innovation that had been inspired by our overnight stay and the walk across Bodmin Moor. My idea came from reading one of the books on my koyt bedside table. I'm going to start working on a new concept around heart-centred communication: for business content creation, personal conversations with those we love, and developing the skill of being able to truly listen to yourself. More to come on this idea as it develops, it could become a retreat, coaching programme, or perhaps a book! If this excites you too, drop me a message to let me know...

The Cornish Seaweed Festival:

On the 12th May, I hosted a Nature Writing Workshop at Natural England's Cornish Seaweed Festival in Marazion. It was a really interesting session, exploring our attitudes to seaweed, from childhood memories to learning about contemporary uses as we learn to harness its superpowers! Thank you to those who came along, for your creativity and openness to share - it was a very thought-provoking afternoon.

Cornwall 30 Under 30 Awards:

At the end of the month, I attended the Cornwall 30 Under 30 Awards at the Atlantic Hotel in Newquay, having been shortlisted! I went along with Emily Davidson, who runs Castle Beach Cafe in Falmouth, who was also nominated, and we had a gorgeous evening hearing about people doing amazing things across Cornwall, all whilst still in their twenties!

As we move into June I'm excited to start working with the lovely Becca at Freedom to Function on her social media, and tomorrow morning I'm going to Mylor to watch (and capture content for!) Invictus Atlantic as they launch their brand new boat that they'll be rowing the Atlantic in this December...

If you'd like to work with me in the coming months, just send an email to hello@strengthinfeathers.com - it will be lovely to hear from you!
