Latest Podcast & Audiobook Recommendations

I play audio content through my phone as often as possible, and it's one of my favourite ways to learn, to get inspired and to engage with new ideas. Through lockdown this has been even more valuable than normal, and I thought I'd share some of my favourite recommendations:

This is the most incredible free resource from Cornwall Council libraries - you just need to sign up to the library and then use your code to download the app. From there you have an enormous collection of fiction and non-fiction books to choose from.

Some of my recent favourites have been:

Everyone is Still Alive - The first novel by Cathy Rentzenbrink, exploring motherhood and identity in contemporary London. I listened in two days, loved it!

Rising Strong - Just one of Brené Brown's titles available on the app - if you haven't read any of her non-fiction before I highly recommend it, she is amazing.

The Confession - a time-split novel by Jessie Burton about identity, uncovering the past, and relationships between mothers and daughters.

The Book You Wish Your Parents Had Read - a non-fiction deep dive into looking at how we manage our emotions and behaviours, and to what extent our childhood experiences shape this.

The Museum of Modern Love - a novel by Heather Rose, inspired by Marina Abramovic's performance art at MOMA in New York.

The Living Mountain - an absolute classic of British nature writing by Nan Shepherd that I'd been meaning to read/listen to for a while.

Wild - The powerful memoir of Cheryl Strayed who walked 1000 miles solo across America on a journey of self-discovery and recovery. (You may have seen or heard of the film.)

So many to choose from but these are some of my current listens:

✨The Guilty Feminist - Deborah Frances White

✨Feel Better, Live More - Dr Rangan Chatterjee

✨Track Your Life - Boyd Varty

✨Dare to Lead - Brene Brown

✨Period Power - Maisie Hill

✨How to Fail - Elizabeth Day

✨Thanks A Million - Angela Scanlon

Meditations and IG Lives:

And a few little extras I love from Instagram and Spotify...

Breathpod - morning breathing and manifestation exercises

Joey Hulin - morning meditations

Fitness First - flowing downstream meditation

Sounds of the Ocean - playlist

I'd love to hear your own recommendations and wellbeing resources... share them on Instagram and tag @strength_in_feathers, or email me at
